NEW NORMAL TRAVEL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Greetings from Palbina Team, COVID-19 has posed unprecedented challenges to the world, including the aviation industry which is undoubtedly been the worst hit. Measurers put in place globally to contain the pandemic has been occasioned by travel restrictions hence the new norm of travel. We do comprehend the importance of understanding the travelĀ  health and safety protocols and further staying updated due to the changing nature.

As our beloved country, Kenya starts opening up its skies with domestic flights 15th July 2020 while international flights 1st August 2020, most of you may be wondering what the travel health and safety protocols may look like. The responsibility lies with every individual for us to win this hidden war of COVID-19.

Kenya Airports Authority has put in place important measures as attached to contain the virus spread. Kindly let us follow keenly while at the airport. At Palbina, with our duty of care, we are glad to share with you as follows;

For domestic travels:-

Check-In Counters:

  • COVID-19 certificate not a requirement for domestic travels in Kenya
  • Online check-in is recommended to avoid queues at the airport
  • Temperature checks on arrival for passengers at the airport
  • Passengers MUST observe Social distancing in the queue
  • Wearing of masks a MUST all throughout the journey
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at all touch points

Waiting Lounges:

  • Adhere to the sitting guidelines while at the lounge
  • Observe social distancing

Embarking/Boarding:

  • Boarding will be done by zones as guided by the cabin crews, kindly adhere.
  • Maintain social distancing on the boarding queues

In-flight:-

  • Cabin Crew will assist passengers with opening and closing of the overhead bins to reduce touch
  • All aircraft are fitted with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration system to frequently refresh the air

Disembarking:-

  • Cabin crew will assist in opening and closing of the overhead bins to reduce touch.
  • Maintain social distance while disembarking
  • Cabin crew will guide on disembarking by zones, kindly adhere
  • Temperature checks to disembarking passengers before leaving the airport
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at all customer touch points

For International travels:-

Travel Health and Safety requirements for International travels shall be dependent on respective countries of travel. This is because each government has implemented health travel restrictions differently. Most countries require testing for travellers prior to travel (refer to frequently asked questions). Therefore we recommend always to check with us at all times. Since COVID-19 pandemic keeps on evolving, we highly recommend that you get current information from embassies before commencement of travel.

NOTE:

  • Do not travel if you experience COVID-19 symptoms
  • Always adhere to COVID-19 preventive measurers wherever you are, personal responsibility is key
  • Ensure Ministry of Health guidelines are adhered to travel and stay Safe!
  • For international travels, we highly recommend to be updated on transit and destination points as far as travel healthy safety is concerned during this period as many countries have imposed travel restrictions which must be fulfilled.
